Gold Coast Classic: 2024 Rapier

This year the Gold Coast Classic is going official with its tournament 2024 series: a one day, sidesword tournament in January, Longsword in April, and Rapier and Dagger in September.

GCC events will generally be smaller in scope than previous events we have held and more casual in nature. They will focus on one weapon and run as single day events.

We use the Swiss System for pools meaning each fencer will receive the maximum number of matches in the tournament rather than facing elimination after a single pool. Fencers will compete in two initial 'seeding' pools before their final pool which is determined by on-the-day performance. This means each fencer should expect between 12-15 matches on the day.

Numbers will be capped at 30 fencers. A minimum of 5 tickets will be reserved for interstate fencers with the remaining being first in, best dressed. Ticketing details and pricing will be released soon. Event data will be sent to hema ratings and the Australian Historical Fencing League.

Brisbane Longsword League: Autumn Assault

The Brisbane Longsword Ladder has evolved into the Brisbane Longsword League! Four single day longsword tournaments across the year, aiming for one per quarter.

Rules TBA, but these will be refereed, a winner announced, medals awarded, and the event generally run like the normal tournaments you're used to, with results submitted to HEMA ratings.

Additionally we'll keep track of points across the four events and name a Brisbane Longsword League Champion (along with overall placings) for the year after all four are completed.

Entry is $50 per Qld competitor. Fencers traveling from interstate compete for free

Sword Fight is back for the fourth time. It will be hosted on the 27th and 28th of July at the Tallebudgera Recreation Centre, Gold Coast. More details will follow but we are working towards some big changes.

Once again the event will offer:
A two day tournament,
Our big beautiful double hall with grandstand seating,
Up to three ranked divisions
(Unreasonably) cheap beachside accommodation for the weary fencer,
New sponsors with a tonne of swag,
An electronic scoring system to streamline pools and elimination bouts,
All divisions to be listed on the International Ratings.
A ‘masters’ division for our much celebrated senior fencers,
A return of Australia’s first women’s division.

As always we will be looking to push the envelope and measure the capacity for Australian HEMA. Furthermore we will continue to celebrate the diversity of Australian HEMA alongside the stiffest competition in the opens.
